Research Papers

Each individual in your group will prepare a three page research paper on an assigned subject. Make two copies of your paper and submit them to your group leader.

Group leaders will collate the papers for the group and submit both copies of them to our TA. One copy will be returned as soon as possible and your grade will be posted on line.

You must have a title page, three full pages of double-spaced text in 12 point Times New Roman typeface, excluding notes, which should be placed at the end of the article. Photographic images should also be placed at the end of the paper along with your bibliographic citations.

You should try to include a minimum three books and three web sites for your article.

While I realize some of you may have problems with the English language and its construction, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of good writing. I am speaking here of content, grammar, spelling and style.

There are many computer programs that can help you by marking spelling and grammatical errors as you write, and there is a writing center on campus at 176 Voorhies Hall, where you may be able to get help with paper writing.

Just having someone else read your paper and pointing out grammatical mistakes would help. It also helps to read your paper out loud to yourself to hear how it sounds. Or have someone else read it to you who is a good English speaker

If my readers and I are unable to read your paper and understand it, you will have to rewrite your paper. This will take a lot of time in a session that is already accelerated. If you do rewrite and we are still unable to read your paper YOU WILL FAIL THE CLASS!

This may seem harsh, but the writing component of this class is critical to your being awarded a good letter grade. Prepare yourself for this possibility by making sure your grammar is correct and in good order
