Mail these two postcards to your group leader before October 20 , 2005. Make sure everything is glued down securely, so that they won't get ripped or torn in the mail. Do not make just one postcard with two different images. Make two postcards with two different images. Do not mail them in an envelope. Do not hand them to your group leader.
In this exercise you will read part of a story in the form of a letter you supposedly wrote to a person named Gabrielle. In the letter you are describing your visit to a fantastic land. Your pictures will be strange creatures from your imagination. Your assignment in this part of the story is to design the strange creatures described in the following letter.
Dear Gabrielle:
When I awoke this morning great mists were trailing away from the Yann. And the flow of the river was tumbling now tumultuously, and little waves appeared. I knew we were drawing near the river Irillion that moves down from the cool ravines of Glorm where the snows never melt completely. Yann seemed to be rejoicing as it shook off the torpid sleep that possessed it as we moved through the jungles. The hills of Glorm came glittering into view and we heard the sound of the Irillion as she came dancing from the fields of snow.
I have been thinking of you, wondering how you are doing this quarter in Davis. Everything seems so far away here. Mail doesn't come here. Everything belongs to the river.
Today the air is fresh and smells of the mountains. We stopped for a day in Durl near the Acroctian hills. Here there are so many different vehicles I cannot even begin to describe them all. Some are like wagons, some fly just above the ground with giant wings, others seem to have wheels made of fine spun gold and twirl through the streets making a mysterious music. They appear to have been designed by madmen. I do not believe any two of them are alike.
Because these vehicles are so strange and hard to describe, I have made you two collage pictures of them the size of a postcard. I used parts of pictures from magazines I brought with me. As you can see, each of these cards shows a different vehicle from Durl. I told you these vehicles were strange looking, but did you ever expect they looked this strange? I think these two collages are quite detailed and show you exactly how these vehicles are put together. I hope you enjoy them.
We will soon visit Duz, probably next week and I'll try to get you a letter from there. I understand the animals there are most unusual and have even more fantastic habits.
All love surround you.
