Commercialized Paradise Screen Print
{Fall 2006}
The screenprint was inspired by my trip to Costa Rica during the summer of 2006. While I was exploring Jaco Beach and indulging myself in conversation with the locals, I was made aware of the current situation surrounding the area. Over the past few years, there has been an influx of international tourism throughout the country. Due to Costa Rica's rise in popularity, there has also been a need for development. Though building vacation resorts and hotels have provided more jobs, it has consequently effected its surrounding environment. The graphical elements within the screenprint exemplify the current development in Costa Rica at the cost of the rainforest's diminishment.
